Simple DIY Mosquito Trap To Enjoy Your Summer Nights Mosquito-Free!

Summer DIY To Keep You Mosquito-Free!

With summer just right around the corner, I can’t wait for the weekend barbeques and the quality time you spend with friends and family. Whether you’re in backyard, the pool or anywhere else it is something I look forward to every year. The only thing is that I always forget to prepare for is the mosquitos that come out to enjoy the weather and say hello too. While mosquito spray is now a necessity for a nice summer night not everyone prepares for this. Our simple DIY today will have you prepared for mosquitoes for your next event whether it’s a bbq or get together so that your guests will enjoy this time outside!

What you need for this diy

  • Empty plastic 2 liter bottle
  • Scissors
  • 1 cup of warm water
  • 1 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/4th of a teaspoon of yeast

Step One: Cut the empty 2 liter bottle

So we begin this diy by taking the empty two liter bottle and cutting it in half as shown above.

Step Two: Add in the ingredients

Once you have cut the empty 2 liter bottle your next step will be simple. You will then add in the one cup of warm water followed by the one cup of brown sugar. The last ingredient to add to our DIY is the 1/4th teaspoon of yeast.

Step Three: Secure Your DIY

Once you have added in all the ingredients you will unscrew the cap from the top half of the empty bottle and insert it upside down into the other half of the bottle. After you are done with this you will secure both parts of the bottle with strong tape. Black tape is used for the diy video however we used duct tape for our own diy. We recommend that you use tape that is durable and will hold up to the weather.

Step Four: Place Your DIY Away From Where You Will Be

Now for the last step we want to place our newly made DIY in a place nowhere near where all of our guests will be. We don’t want to attract the mosquitos to where everyone is going to be at. We would ideally place this outside in an area where no one would be so that when the mosquitoes come they don’t bother anyone.
